After nearly two years of not meeting due to the pandemic, Our AAS volunteers resumed leading the Pineview Elementary After-school Bird Club in January of this year. Read Education Chair Donna Legare’s Pineview Elementary 2022 Wrap Up and check out the photos of kid-created bird nests that they did as their final project.

In 2017, Apalachee Audubon partnered with Pineview Elementary School to offer lessons and activities related to birds and conservation to after-school programs. Volunteers from Apalachee Audubon take the students outside looking for birds, teach them how to use binoculars that have been generously donated from the chapter, and use standards-based lessons to teach the students concepts they do not learn in class. Additional donations from chapter members have enabled us to take the students at this Title 1 school on a field trip to nearby Lake Elberta Park and to St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. We look forward to creating new conservationists at Pineview Elementary each year, and always try to beat our bird list from the year before!
