My birding journey started in 9th grade in Jacksonville, FL. I was lucky enough to have a biology teacher who was not only an ornithologist but also an artist. I developed a great appreciation and fascination with birds. Our teacher would take us birdwatching on Saturdays, and I was hooked! I still have my original Audubon Guide.

Throughout my life, birds have remained at the forefront. From geese and chickens to parrots, I have worked to rescue, foster, and give a home to all sorts of feathered friends. Birdland…Parrots for Life is my Facebook networking page for exotic birds in Leon County.

Now that I’m retired, a great deal of my time and travel is spent monitoring, finding, and photographing birds. I really enjoy watching and photographing bird behavior to understand how they live. By being on the Board of the Apalachee Audubon Society, I hope to have a positive influence on their lives and help further educate myself and others.
