AAS monitors 40 nest gourds, 24 at Lake Elberta Park and 16 at Lake Henrietta Park. We will update this page every Thursday with the status of the eggs and Purple Martin young.

Meanwhile, here are some photos of eggs and young. The first eggs hatched on Earth Day, April 22!

Lake Elberta Park, May 6, 2026:  Total of 111 eggs laid in 22 of 24 nest gourds. In 13 of those nests, there are 54 hatchlings or young.

Lake Elberta Park: These are the young that hatched on Earth Day—April 22. They are 15 days old in this photo They are expected to fledge around May 19.

Lake Elberta Park: Four of five eggs have hatched within the past 24 hours. We’ll find out on the next check if egg #5 hatches as well.


Lake Henrietta Park, May 6, 2026:  Total of 82 eggs laid in 15 of 16 nests. In 9 of those nests, there are 42 hatchlings or young.
