Want to take better photos of the birds you see? Whether you’re brand new to photography, an experienced birder with a camera, or already comfortable behind the lens, this fun and interactive program is for you!
We’ll explore the fundamentals of bird photography — including camera settings, autofocus, shutter speed, light, composition, bird behavior, birds in flight, and how to get sharper, more compelling images. Along the way, we’ll use real-world examples, demonstrations, photo comparisons, and audience participation to see what works, what doesn’t, and why.
No fancy equipment required! Bring a DSLR, mirrorless camera, point-and-shoot, bridge camera, phone, or simply come ready to learn. All experience levels are welcome, and more experienced photographers will find plenty of bird-specific tips and techniques to take home, too.
We’ll also cover responsible bird photography and how to get the shot while always putting the welfare of the bird first.
Best of all, participants will have the opportunity to put what they learn into practice during a follow-up Apalachee Audubon bird photography field trip!
